Spending a couple of weeks at Mount Massive, during which he was unable to even talk to his wife and son thanks to strict security protocols, Waylon developed a deep-seated distrust of the profit-motivated scientists and doctors leading dangerous and irresponsible experiments on their patients. Whistleblower will let you play as Waylon Park, a software engineer under contract with Murkoff and the man who emailed journalists around the world - including Miles - at the beginning of Outlast. Not for how lacking it felt for me personally.Tải trò chơi Steam của Outlast: Whistleblower DLC Its ok, but I was expecting much, much more. You can get the combo (base + dlc) for 7 bucks on the Humble Bundle store. 2 bucks isnt anything for 2-3 hours worth of a game. I got the DLC on the humble store for 2 bucks and for that price, I would tell anyone to buy it and try it. All and all I came out of WB underwhelemed and more annoyed than joyed at how many chase sequences there were, how few jumpscares there where, and how little the DLC had to offer. Whistleblower is pretty much 100% chase sequences with a little tiny story in between. Atleast in the base game you are able to to look around and explore a little before they throw you into a chase sequence, but once they do, its constant and the game becomes less scary, and more annoying. The mechanic that makes this and the basegame lack is having to run FAR TOO OFTEN. To my suprise, it wasnt nearly as fun as the base game. After beating the base game, I was so excited to jump in and beat whistleblower. It is an interesting plotline, however, I feel the game falls way way short. Oh well.ġh 57m PlayedMeh, the game looks at the story of the man that leaked the information and sent the email to the main character of the base game. Instead, it seems contemptuous to the player to make them shell out extra money for what is essentially another part of the same story that should have been included in the first place. Why is it DLC? Wouldn't it have been ten-times better had it been edited into the base game? It would have gone a long way to rectifying that lack of variety. Even though "Whistleblower" went that little bit extra, I still hesitantly recommend it. The entire climactic sequence with him was grislier & more atmospherically-effective than anything the original threw at you. Special mention also needs to go to the DLC's best new villain: a sad, lonely guy who just really, REALLY wants to be loved. It had a gripping playable prologue in the "Half-Life" vein, and an excellent outdoor area with some non-linear exploration & first-person platforming thrown in for variety (I actually like first-person platforming, so there). Taking place before, during, and after the events of the first game, you play a different character from a different perspective of the asylum (trying to keep things spoiler-free), and by going this route it actually helps to explain much of what happened off-screen in the original without the need for mindless exposition in the form of collectables. ![]() But the plot is miles-ahead of the original. The mechanics are the same - nothing's changed: you're still going to be running away & hiding from rubber-banding enemies while you flip switches & film everything with a grainy night-vision camcorder with the shoddiest battery life ever. But not sadly, because this DLC is, incredulously, better than the main game. ![]() Sadly, though, I did feel I had to play the DLC too, since I paid for it. Boring, repetitive gameplay loop with a nonsensical plot and zero effective scares. Honestly, I probably should have just waited, since the original went on sale solo recently for two-bucks: an even better deal, if you take into account that Outlast was, for myself, a disappointing experience. 2h PlayedI bought the original "Outlast" as a bundle with this DLC, since at the time it was the cheapest option.
